How about the Kingston or Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) pairs? This is what I have my sights on, although I did read that some tx2 Users had problems with the G.Skill set(s)...

I'm assuming you want to run a dual-channeled matched pair, right? Some of the tx2 Pros can help us out here maybe...

Very strange as Mushkin is the best ram available....with Corsair second and Kingston somewhat last.

........ Who says Corsair is last again? So long as you are not buying their value line, Corsair is the best memory I have ever worked with to date on performance and compatibility.

I normally use Corsair and never had a problem in any computer but seeing the Gskill and Mushkin were cheaper i'd figure i'd give them a try, boy was that a mistake, lol

What about Crucial's set? How are they to Corsair (named after my favorite WWII fighter/attack plane)? I didn't know Kingston was at the bottom of the list...

Pay no mind to my list. It is MY list of MY preferences and I should not have but it on you. My apologies.

If you must know though....the absolute LOWEST on my list is OCZ. Their SSDs are great but the ram is junk IMHO.

No Kingston is still a good brand as is Crucial. You get what YOU decide to get.

Sorry Digi, I misread your comment there and thought you said corsair was second to last. My appologies.

Has anyone heard of "Qimonda" RAM? I have found a GREAT deal (around $250)involving a set from them that is 8GB 2x4GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 200pin CL6 8c SODIMM Memory for the HP TouchSmart tx2-1300 series. The only problems are that I have never heard of them before, and I am trying to find out if I can get them in a matched pair for dual-channel functioning. Any further ideas? Thanks!

e8ay has a listing selling matched pairs from Qimonda for $245 w/ free shipping. The e8ay Seller, "mem-store", has 100% Positive Feedback w/ 715+ ratings. Do a search on e8ay for: 8GB 2x4GB DDR2-800 Memory for HP TouchSmart tx2-1300.

I have contacted him in regards to what mfg. makes these, and he sent me the specs for these RAM sticks as 8GB 2 x 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 200pin CL6 8c SODIMM from the company called "Qimonda". He also guarantees that they will work for HP tx2's AND are indeed matched pairs for dual-channel ops. He has a 14 day return policy, so that should be plenty of time to check his claims should the RAM not perform as listed. I have a set ordered w/ another set on standby if they work. They ship from CA, so I'll keep everyone posted...

ragurojo said: I have heard about qimonda RAM, indeed, I have two of these installed in my tx2 13xx; they are from kingston, I think that is one of the manufacturers of ram chips, and they work fine, I haven't had any problem with them...
I now have a pair of Qimonda 8GB (4GB x2) RAM in our tx-1370us and tx-1375dx. Both are up and running with no problems, except that these two tx-13xx's do not have BIOS that will allow them to run with dual-channel memory. Still, I'm very satisfied with the noticable speed increase and with the price I paid for them. Can't beat 8GB for $245 these days...

Thank you for educating me to a certain extent on RAM for my tx2-1020us through tx2-1370us fleet! (4 tx2's)

do think they will ever create a BIOS to run with dual channel memory or is that way beyond expectation for these tx2's

(still addressing video RAM issues with streaming movies on hulu and other streaming sites -- MUCH less with the Windows 7 tx2-1470us )

I used advanced power setting to keep ATI display at Maximum Perormance even while on battery -- any other tricks for Vista 64-bit or Win7 on the tx2-1XXXus series?

May 23, 2010 2:43 AM

oops typo: obviously not "1470us" i meant 1370us in 2nd to last paragraph. whew!~

good night

I still hoping for a BIOS update myself, as well as a way to add internal Bluetooth capability to my two tx2's.

I think HP has forgotten about the tx2's now that the tm2's are here...

So we decided that Mushkin is the best ram available, with Corsair second and Kingston third?

;)

PNY fit into there anywhere?

It doesn't show a 4 MB RAM stick available for the TouchSmart on Corsair's website - just 2MB?

Thanks as always!

May 23, 2010 2:39 PM

I'm not sure about Corsair, but you can get 8GB (2 x 4GB) of Samsung PC2-6400 DDR2-800 200pin CL6 8c SODIMM memory for HP TouchSmart tx2-1300 series laptops on e8ay for $263 w/ free shipping. I have this set-up in my two tx2's and it's awesome! Too bad I don't have the BIOS to run dual-channel...

Go to e8ay and enter "8GB 2x4GB DDR2-800 Memory for HP TouchSmart tx2-1300" in the search box. Or use this link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/8GB-2x4GB-DDR2-800-Memory-HP-TouchSmart-tx2-1300-/1903586...

I was lookng for Corsair and Kingston, but their price was too high for what I was looking for. Good Luck!
