I am trying to get confirmation that the iphone will not connect to the HP TouchSmart without being jailbroken first. Is this true?

Unfortuantly true. Apple keeps the bluetooth crippled on the Iphone sadly. Jailbreak ftw

Why then does the iphone connect via Bluetooth to an HP laptop but not to my Touchsmart 600 PC ?

You're replying to a 2 year old thread so there are good odds you won't get a response, I'm also not sure what your real issue is.

Does your TS 600 have Bluetooth? not all did.

Yes the PC definitely has bluetooth and happily pairs the iphone but I get a message 'No driver found' and therfore am unable to connect the phone to the PC.

That is the default behavior for an iphone in the Windows world with only the Windows Bluetooth stack. They don't pair to computers normally in my experience.
