Maybe the red LED works, but the IR one is busted?
I just went to FiOS now that analog is gone from my community, and I have a very strange situation.
Previously both my Pavilion Elite m9040n and IQ506t were on analog cable and worked great.
With this weeks move, both units have gotten Motorola set top boxes, and I had to dig out their ir blasters from the boxes, and then set them up, and here's where it gets weird. Both computers got set up with their own ir blasters that I kept in their manual bags, the Pavilion works fine, the IQ506t doesnt, it won't change channels.
I kept thinking I had set something up wrong, and then at the last minute I put the blaster from the Pavilion on the IQ506t to test it out, and son of a gun, it worked! In fact the pavilion ir blaster works everywhere, the IQ506t blaster works nowhere.. weirdly enough the IQ506t blaster has a red LED to show it's working, and it does light up when it should be changing channels.
This one has me stumped.. any ideas?

I'm not discounting that as an option but my available hardware to troubleshoot is the 2 HP blasters and a few generic older blasters that may or may not work with an HP.
I have an IQ846 on the way, so I'm going to set that up when it gets here with its blaster so I can have a 3rd sample.
aha! moment, I may have a few WinXP MCE blasters in a box somewhere from an original XPMCE remote and receiver assy; I'll look for those tonight.

Being a pack rat comes to the rescue..
I grabbed one of the WinXP MCE external receiver blaster kits, and that blaster while identical to the IQ506t in all appearances, works fine, so it was a defective out of the box blaster cable from the IQ506t
