I wish to thank Mr. Dustin Cross of Cross Technologies for helping me to install all the HP TouchSmart software on my TX2-1025DX and checking remotely that the software worked correctly.

I have had software issues with this used computer and, in the past, I contacted HP technical support for assistance since the computer is still under warranty. There were of some help to me but left some issues unresolved.

During the conversations with them, the tech support staff told me that this computer would NEVER run TouchSmart software even though I told them that I had seen a TX2 at Best Buy during the holidays running TouchSmart software very well as well as the Microsoft TouchPack for Windows 7. After the holidays, HP released the TM2 series and made the TX2 series obsolete. So, I was very frustrated in these discussions.

I had purchased the HP USB TV dongle for use with ComCast cable TV. The tech staff was NEVER able to make the USB dongle work with Windows 7. The computer would stop playing local TV and the Windows Media Center would freeze up. I finally had to return the HP TV dongle for credit. I purchased  Cyberlink PowerCinema software with their TV dongle because they were the company that developed the software for HP. Their software and TV dongle works well with Windows 7. The TV dongle also works well with Windows Media Center.

The only application that would not work was MediaSmart TV. For some unknown reason, the software would not complete the process of installation and produce a registry entry. This problem occurred after many attempts to install this component of the MediaSmart applications. The other four components of MediaSmart do work correctly. The computer had been upgraded with an HP Upgrade disk from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

As previously stated, Mr. Cross connected remotely to the computer and completed the installation of the TouchSmart applications including Live TV and Internet TV. Everything works as if this is a new TM2 not an older TX2.

Today, Feb 20th, I reinstalled the three service packs from the HP web site, SP43595, SP45184, and SP46572. This time, AFTER TouchSmart was installed and working. MediaSmart TV began to work as well.

Now, I have both TouchSmart and MediaSmart working on this computer. Maybe my experiences will help other TX2 owners.

go to the following web site:

www.crosstechnology.net

Please provide Mr. Cross with your name and email. He will send the TX2 Installer program to your email address. He also requests a donation if you use his installer program.

Note, donations are completely optional, and no pressure is applied other than begging for them =p.
