Bought this wonderful looking computer at the start of November, there is a lot of things that are great and a lot of things that are not, firstly the touch screen can be a bit hit and miss, especially when using two fingers to enlarge or shrink, maybe its because I have large hands I don’t know,

One of my jobs is photography and I took a lot of photos from my main computer and put on here hoping to see the touch smart in action and show it off to my friends and more importantly justify the cost to her in doors, what a joy it was to see all the photos in HD the colours came to life and the whole picture seemed to jump out of the screen, what a disappointment that it was all shared with the pictures from the music folder (there must be a way to separate them?) which are low grade, and how do you put the pictures in the album view? I have tried adding my own but they disappear in album view.

Maybe it’s a vista thing? I was also blown away with the blue-ray player (better than my PS3)

And because of this I no longer use the touch screen (grubby finger prints on a fine screen is just not right ) It looks to me like the touch smart software was rushed out, maybe it would have been better if HP had waited and got rid of the bugs first?

I should point out that I am no expert, but having spent £1500 on a computer I would expect a little more wow for my money.

The issue of not being able to specify which locations the HP TouchSmart software pick photos, videos and pictures up from has been widely discussed among people on these forums. It is a top feature request along with the ability to pick up media from a network location and home server, something that's not possible right now either.

Thanks for being another voice asking for this missing feature. It helps prioritize what may become new features in the future.

As far as you big fingers, try going to Start - All programs and Optimize for touch. You can always go back by choosing optimize for mouse.

If you don't have the Optimize for Touch in Start - All Programs, you need to download it as an update from the HP Support website. It was not part of the IQ500 series as shipped from the factory.

Currently that update is available here, though the link may move in the future:
