Everything else seems to have sound except the music application.  All other windows music applications play sound fine.  And I have rebooted several times.

 This thing is flakey!

Call tech support and they'll have you delete the driver and re-boot the computer.

On mine, I did that and the sound diid come back. However the SoundMAX icon went away and then I had to do a system restore to get that back.

What a way to fix a problem, huh?

Somebody operated this development on a shoestring budget and it shows.

The reason why your sound max settings dissappeared from your system tray is most likely caused by the fact that when the sound drivers were uninstalled and the computer restarted, windows re-installed generic drivers. In order to get the Soundmax back, you can go to the control panel - recovery manager - advanced options - hardware driver re-installation - select the sound max driver and then restart ! Most likely the re-installation of the proper driver should have been done before the original restart right after the uninstallation !
