Their board message on their plan to release a driver with proper pressure-sensitivity support by May 2010 has been removed:

http://www.n-trig.com/Content.aspx?Page=Comments

Poor you users of TX2! Better join the Wacom TM2 wave!

P.S. The message that has been removed read: "The pressure sensitivity issue with Photoshop is being addressed by our answer to the WinTab API solution, which we are planning to release by mid-April 2010."

Now you shouldn't be expecting any improved pen support.

Astonishing what you read out of a message that isn't existent anymore. In the past n-trig did remove messages a few times but that doesn't mean they cancel working on problem xy.
FYI if you have a look on the "Hands-on Hints" you can read the following:

Certain industry-standard applications such as Photoshop can Painter cannot register pressure of the pen.

This problem appears to be related to the WinTab API not being able to communicate properly with the digitizer output.

Our solution for issues related to the pressure sensitivity and the WinTab API are currently under development and is due to be released in mid-May 2010. If possible we may post Beta versions for testing earlier.

I wouldn't take the removal of a post to mean that the product will never exist, you're making a lot of assumptions on a deleted post.

The deleted post is newer (was dated February 7, 2010) than the FAQs item quoted above about pressure sensitivity support. Besides, n-trig are now probably busy writing drivers and SDKs for their next generation hardware. I think they have made modifications in the hardware and learned some useful lessons...

Well...maybe they took it down because of the new driver released..... Maybe its just a little later in devolopement then they thought....

Sure, that's might be a tradition here, but only if the new drivers support pen pressure sensitivity as they should ;D But they don't!

In fact pen pressure sensitivity does work. It just doesn't do it with Photoshop and some other programs. And correct me if I'm wrong, n-trig did never claim that pressure sensitivity does work with Photoshop or every program that can handle it.

Well, I dont know if we can expect a wintab api compatible driver... but if it will, april looks too soon for ntrig...

Anyway, wacom didn“t do a lot better... 2 touch points... less than decent control panel. So far, not impressed at all.

I'd like to sell you a car that you can use to get around. Sure, this car can't drive on the nice standardized roads, but it can still drive.

March 5, 2010 9:30 AM

I have to side with Travis on this one. They didnt state it would work with photoshops specific API for pressure sensitivity and such.

And with the ghost clicking resolved (at least so far for me /fingers) the "car" can drive around on the roads and be used for the intended purpose just fine. It cannot do the offroading and fly like I wish it could however is all ;).

i talked to them about it and they are going to release it on May.
the fact it went down does NOT mean they stop working on it.

March 15, 2010 12:36 AM

Jolly, most users are completely unaware of the fact that the pressure sensitivity is not a standard feature, they just expect it to work. N-trig didn't need to promise anything, but it simply should have been part of the original functionality. I've already bought the software, so I guess it's my fault for not figuring this out as a consumer, but I question whether it's really my fault, as it would seem quite foolish to make sure that my laptop came with other assumed features, like a screen or keyboard. When I bought this tablet pc, I presumed it would function as a tablet pc, not as a novelty item that is in incomplete in an important way.[/miniRant]

I think there must have been a glitch on the N-trig website, because the pressure sensitivity comment is back on the Support Hints page...right at the top of the list. Win-tab API due to be released in Mid May...

Wyedamnit - do you have the latest 2.239 driver update for your TX2? - the 64 bit version was on the HP support site the last time I looked. 32 bit version was not there yet... but I've emailed HP Tech support asking for it.

Regarding pressure sensitivity, I've used Artrage and One Note with no issues on my TX2 with N-trig.

Does the TM-2 have palm rejection - or does it just turn touch off when the pen goes into Hover mode?
