I have just bought a new HP IQ506 touchsmart computer.  I have a satellite for tv reception.  The set top box is to far away to run an IR cable.  The satellite company says I have to set the built in tuner in my HP computer to channel #73 in order to use the satellite on my computer.  How do I set the tv tuner to channel #73?  I have a coaxal cable from my satellite set top box to my computer.

I don't think you're going to be able to use that set top box going through coax with Media Centre. Typically with a setup such as yours you would want to tell Media Centre that you are using an antenna and manually change the channel to the one that the set top box outputs to. But if I'm not mistaken, when on antenna, you can only go from channel 1 to 69.

See if there is a way to change the channel that your box outputs to, or get yourself a heavily shielded S-vid cable.

Hello, i find the following instructions in the net, enjoy it.

"I had the same problem, go to set up tv signal then select to do it manually select that you have CABLE not sat, it will then ask you what company you use, I just picked the first one it doesn't really matter. After you've gone through the set up you'll need to go to task then setting, guide, and select add missing channels I named mine dish then added the channel. Once you've added the channel go to that channel and your dish guide should be there."
