The touch screen on the Desktops is IR and sensor based around the screen, not on the surface, there's no way to measure pressure since the touch of the screen is not physically felt, it's the finger breaking the sensor grid that it sees.
in fact you don't have to touch the screen at all on the desktops, you can hover 1/8" above it and it works.

Hi all,
I'm considering buying a HP touchsmart 600t, on which I plan to install Linux (probably Ubuntu) and use it for photo editing with the GIMP.
As far as I've understood so far, the HP TX2 laptops/tablets are somehow working in Linux (with some hacking), and pressure sensitivity can be read from the pen (while the touchscreen itself is only capable of returning the position of the touches, and not pressure information -- right?).
But the desktop touchsmart computers don't come with a pen, and the digital pen sold by HP doesn't list them as compatible devices. Does it mean that it's impossible to get pressure sensitivity information from the HP touchsmart 600t?
Or is its touchscreen different from the TX2, and can provide touch pressure information without the need of using a digital pen?
Where can I find the detailed specs of the touchscreen mounted on the HP touchsmart 600t? The HP website only says it's multi-touch capable, but that's all.
I'm not scared of hacking; what scares me is the risk of buying some hardware that cannot possibly fulfil my needs. :-)
TIA,
Alberto
