Hi,

I have the IQ 507. My computer came with a remote. Is there a tuner in  this? How do I access it? Thanks in advance.

I just got my new IQ804... haven't used the TV tuner, myself, but I did notice that full instructions on how to plug in your cable or satellite feed and how to use the TV features are covered in the detailed manual. I hope your manual was included in your packaging.

The large poster right on top of the packing in the box has a schematic on the reverse side that shows all ports, including the composite TV input, too.

Hope this helps

Setup is through Windows Media Center.

Sure you don't have the IQ 506 model? It has a built-in tuner.

Hi Heidi and Hatguy,

I have the IQ 507. It is the Costco model. I think I have to hook up a TV cable to it. We have Dirct TV. Thanks both of you for your input.

If you have trouble setting up the IR learning process for the Direct TV remote, let me know.

There is somewhat of a secret in doing so.

I saw an IQ507 for sale on Amazon, and the ad said that it was the same as the IQ 506 but with an extended warranty included.

OK, John, What is the secret to getting the remote to talk to the DirecTV set top box? I am dying to hear this, as I've tried everything I know, and still no cigar...

Hey, after all the critical problems some are having with their TouchSmarts, an Extended Warranty might be the best feature of all. Since I bought mine for $1424.99, I have watched the price drop on NewEgg from $1499.99 down to $1249.99, heck, I could have waited and been able to get an extended warranty with the $250 it dropped since March of '09.

First off, go here if you are having trouble with the DirecTV set top box setup in Windows Media Center, and either just want to watch TV or want the whole TV with the TiVo capability:
http://www.touchsmartcommunity.com/article/17/TV-Tuner-Setup-for-the-TouchSma...

I found that the only way to get through my setup with the DirecTV set top box is to do like the above instructions said, and stick the IR emitter right over the IR receiver port of the DirecTV receiver and run through the setup as instructed on screen. Once you are done with setup and you have TV on your PC, you may disconnect the IR cable from the STB, and then you can switch channels with your original remote.
I'm not too crazy about the IR cable strung across the room to the swivel wall mount where my TV and DirecTV STB are, but if you want to set up unattended recording, you will have to re-install the IR transmitter to the IR sensor on the STB. I hope this helps anyone out there who is struggling with the TV Tuner not working.
