Folks,

Stumbled on this forum and did some searching.  I'm in desparate need to mount (3) HP Touchsmart IQ804 computers.  HP discontinued the wall adapter kit for the IQ804 - I'm looking for alternation solutions to include any type of universal kit or a way to mount it using the existing stand on the back.

I've see a kit for the IQ500 at: http://www.iversal.com/index.html but I'm sure it won't fit since the IQ804 is a larger screen, plus they say it's for the IQ500 and another HP computer.

Also wondering if other wall adapter kits that HP still sells will work with modification in drilling holes or something.

Looking for advice and assistance - really need to mount these computer for military use for a project.  Thanks!

Jim

The IQ800 series wall mount is totally different from the iversal product.

The IQ800 adapter uses mounting points that are already in the unit, and it's a bit bulky, but very clean and completely behind the unit. I've got one and it's odd, but well built with shock and vibration absorbing.

The iversal product is no longer in stock which is disappointing, and it's more of a cradle/sling for the base of the IQ5xx series, it would not work in any way for the much larger IQ8xx.

It is disappointing that the HP part went AWOL off the HP site so quickly, but with the right part number you should be able to find an alternate source for it.

Well I have the part number, as I have two, but need three more. The part number is: FQ493AA#B13, but can't find anyone on the web in any country with the part. Now I've read here people taking a 800 series adapter kit and mounting it to a 506 for instance, therefore wondering if the other kits that HP still has for sale may work, but may involve drilling different holes and such, which I'm willing to do at this point.

Thanks for the info Diane...hopefully someone else will respond. Yes, it is very disappointing that HP discontinued this part, and I have a total of five units and only (2) adapter kits, and (1) lost in shipping. The additional (2) were an after thought at the tail end of March when I found out that HP discontinued them...

Ahh Scorpion, I wasn't sure how far you had dug in yet.
Try searches for just the core part number of FQ493AA

However, if I were in your position, I'd consider ordering the new unit that's for the 300/600 series part #VK554AA:
http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/product/product_detail/VK554AA/1?

Buy one with an AMEX card so you know you can return it, and test it, all you would be out if you ordered with free shipping would be the cost of return shipping.

You may need to modify a mounting hole or two, but that looks really REALLY close to the previous unit. I also know the way HP hates retooling anything, and there's a slight probability that it's the 90% the same part.

Diane,

You do bring up a good point. Getting the part VK554AA, and with free shipping from HP, I guess I would be just out of money to return it. I guess I could get this and find out how it fits on the HP IQ804.

I'm hoping someone on this forum has run into this problem already. Now I did find (1) mount this evening and put it on hold with my CC, and then I'll get with our GOVT purchase card tomorrow. Basically we are using these HP's as Kiosks and the requirment since purchase has changed to wall mount them.

I hoping your correct on HP not liking to re-tool stuff. It appears the wall mount might work, just need to adjust one hole, again just looking at the photo's. Let me know if you have any other suggestions or find information...after going through 3 dozen websites, world-wide...pretty sure I'm not going to get lucky and find another two.

Thanks for your assistance...you've helped alot...

Jim

I am also looking for a Iq804 mount. Wondering if you had any luck with the VK554AA ? Or if you found anybody that sells these. Thanks in advance Dave
