Hi,

 I have 2 critical software updates according to the hp total care advisor. Each one has a red X and when I try to update, the download fails consistantly. There is nothing wrong with my connection as I have no problem downloading anything else.

 The two updates are the Touchsmart Notes Application and the Touchsmart Music/photo and video application.

 Thanks for any help you can give me

If getting the software through HP Update or HP Advisor fails, you can go to the HP Support site directly to find updates. For the IQ504 in the U.S. the link is http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&pr...

Try downloading the software to your computer, then run the software from there.
it worked for me.

There have been some complaints about download succeeding but installation failed, etc while updating. Try running "HP Updates" with administrator privileges.

To do this, use "Task Manager" to find the "HP Updates" process and right click to get "Properties". Choose the Compatibility tab, and check the box "Run this program as an administrator".

You only need to do this once and future updates will succeed. Hope this helps.
