HP has a firmware update for the webcam on many of their models when used
under Vista, see if this applies to yours:

i have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC) 32-bit vista home premium , i havent upgraded it to anyother vista
and ive had it since last year, and all of a sudden my webcam has stopped working. when i click on it it always apears black and "no device detceted.please plug a video device into your computer. if you are using an intergrated camera please make sure that it is turned on" always apears. ive read lots of forums telling me to upgrade it, uninstalling it and reinstalling it. and ive tryed all of that. can anyone help me?
