Recovery Disk Wont Work After HDD Upgrade

Sadly i only found this out once i had swapped out the old noisey seatgate,

for a silent samgsung one,

i should have cloned the drive but wiped it and gave it to my mate, thinking the disk would work...

on top of this i phoned hp and there said the problem was caused by the hard drive being replaced,

so after doing a fresh install of windows, the recovery console doesnt work,

downloaded the latest update and refuses to work,

so looks like i wont be able to restore the games,

i tend to use this iq515uk for watching tv and films,

so not to worries i couldnt get some stuff to work...

thought i'd put this info up,

just incase someone does a hdd upgrade and there recovery disk dont work,

Unfortunately you were given bad information, it has very little to do with the hard drive being replaced.

In fact the recommended way to install a new hard drive is to replace the drive then run the Recovery Media, I've had it work multiple times with new drives on my 3 HP machines, the IQ506, the IQ846, and the Pavilion m9040n.

So while always a good warning to back up your data, the Recovery media should work.

Yeah that is exactly what i thought,
my other 2 touchsmarts came with the tb drives so plenty of extra storage,
the iq515uk came with the 500gb seagate drive,
which recently started making alot of clicking noise,
i did make the recovery disk with vista,
and have used them once before when i had to restore the system,

i had 2 1tb drives (samsung & seagate) both brand new bought a month or so back,
when i found 20% coupons online both have warranty,

i first went and installed the seagate, thought replace the original seagate with the same brand,
but when i turned the touchsmart on i got the message promt,
the hard drive is failing, contact support,

took that out and plug it into the server and it passed a full 1hr test,
so then went and installed the samgsung,
all working fine stuck in the disk and when the recovery process starts,
i get the 100a error,
which cant be a number of things including recent hardware changes,

so had no choice but do a fresh install...

i do have a touchsmart 800 and 600,
going to see if the recovery media works from one of them...
