My Digitzer on my tx2 tends to move on it own and click on its own. the only way to fix it that i know of is turning off the finger input. Yet sometimes i want to use both the finger and the pen. is there anyway to stop this thing from moving on its own?

Which Driver/Firmware version is installed right now? Which OS are you running? Several older drivers, especially with Windows Vista are known to have jumping cursors and do clicks on their own.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and version 1.26.8.39

Well if Firmware version is 4.6.5.8.5 and Software bundle version is 2.239 you have installed the newest drivers from N-Trig. Otherwise you might want to install the newest drivers. Since I installed Software bundle 2.239 I never saw the cursor acting on its own on my TX2.

can you give me the link for the 64bit drivers?

June 2, 2010 8:52 AM

wait scratch that i have the latest drivers.
Version:1.26.8.39
Firmware Version: 4.6.5.8.5
Software bundle Version: 2.239

This is everything that it says under the "About" tab on the N-trig Pen and Touch Settings.

Yet, it still moves on its own, and acts up. any suggestions?

Latest drivers and mine still acts on its own. Its quite bad!

i just turn off the finger touch and it solves my problem, and use the pen.

You can try to reinstall. Make sure you completely remove 2.239 (uninstall ntrig from control panel > programs and features) before reinstalling (use a registry cleaner like ccleaner if you must).

This is an hardware fault. 100%

I know why the touchscreen acts on its own. Not exactly why but what matters it.
At home I have neon lights under my bed. They are usually for pc but with a 12 Volt power supply you can easily use them without the pc.

As long as my lights are off there is no problem. When I turn them on the touchscreen starts to go crazy. The finger input interprets the interferences caused by the transformator as input and when you try to touch the touchscreen it will mix up the interference with your finger movement.

How the hell do they want to recognize those interference as they are different on each supply, transformator and so on?
In my opinion this can not be fixed with drivers..

Your lights are generating a ton of stray RF interferance, and the digitizer is sensitive to it, unlike a lot of folks with other issues, the answer for you situation is easy, don't use the lights..it has nothing to do with power supplies.

Sorry for the bad news,

Diane

Why is the touchscreen so sensitive to it?
On my nokia 5800 XM I have no problems. It seems that HP (Although its N-Trig's fault) sells their product in alpha stage and then misses to patch them stable :(

And not using lights is a very bad kind of solution, isnt it? Working in the dark does not seem to be really healthy, too.

But ghost-clicks are caused by something else. I have them sporadically without any reason until I disable finger input :/

eXPoser,

There are multiple causes of ghost clicking, and the digitizer being sensitive to RF interference is just one of them, and the easiest to solve, there are other threads about issues with desk lamps.

Sometimes it really is just "one of those things" in this case you've diagnosed the cause and you have a scenario where you at least have an answer, albeit one that you don't like. There are other light sources available..it's like saying "I can't use the internet" because your school/office blocks Google, you have other solutions.

I do not pay for the internet at work :P
This is an awful comparison.
Then you could say. You have to accept when car manufactures remove brakes from your car. You can drive without them.. not so good but hey! The companys save money!

When I buy something to use it I think it should not be vulnerable for common interferences or radiations. Do you buy a touchscreen device to disable the main capability? If I could I would send this tablet back in order to get my money refunded. Students create better solutions for multitouch with projectors than N-Trig.

June 30, 2010 11:28 AM

It may be an awful comparison, but the rules on RF interference are pretty clear cut, you're creating it with the lights, and it's affecting the laptop in a negative manner, there's nothing wrong with the laptop itself.

Your situation of running 12V neon automotive/PC lights in your room is not something that I would say we would find in 99% of the owners with a laptop, so the fact that you have a unique situation means that it could be the root of your issues.

Hmm but I have this problem by my girlfriend, too. Just in another way. At home with the neon lights on I have those jagged movement of my pointer when I draw. When I am at my girlfriend the touchscreen just clicks anywhere without touching it.

So it may be that I have more than one problem combined at once in this tablet?

They are known for ghost clicks with certain firmware revisions..

Although I was also trying to figure out how your girlfriend felt about mystery clicks around her... :-)

I currently have windows 7, could reverting back to vista fix this problem?

For 64bit systems, this is a solution. Shut down laptop and remove power and battery for 5 mins. Plug in and boot. Then unistall the previous drivers. Reboot. Then install driver 2.184. it has two touch points but its more reliable if the latest one isnt working for you.

By the way, RF (Radio frequency) has nothing to do with the problem. There are two causes. First is external (electro)magnetic interferance. And this interacts with the magnet in the screen (move a spoon or coin round the edges of your screen and you will find strong magnets especially on the left)

Second cause is mains power irregularity (electrical interferance). This is supposed to be taken care of by the driver algorithm, but for some reason it persists in some laptops. When resuming from sleep, windows becomes paranoid about the way the digitizer reacts to this phenomenon and stops touch input.

@joetheboy We are talking about the interferances already ^^
Maybe in 5 years they will release a driver that works without problems <:
