external drives are a common commodity, so just buy a brand name with a good warranty, the obvious choices are Seagate and Western Digital, avoid cheaper 3rd party external drives where the case is not made by the manufacturer of the drive.
There really isn't anything special about them.
I have an IQ506 TS, Vista SP-2 and want to get an external hard drive or other to backup my family photos. I want to keep it simple - mostly want the ability to backup family photos. About a year ago I had to replace my TS hard drive and have been meaning to get the external drive so we don't lose the Ks of pics. Priorities are compatibility and reliability on HP TS, then ease of use, then price. Any advice?
yeah, but I was wondering if I needed to make use of a specific port off the TS or if I can use any standard drive. or if the TS is finniky and only accepts certain drives.
There is nothing special about the Touchsmart PCs in that way, they have USB 2.0 ports like every other PC on the planet. If you wanted to use firewire, they just need the smaller cable, so I'd suggest staying with USB 2.0
