I am having some difficulty trying to get wake on lan functional on my Touchsmart 600-1120. I have turned on wake on lan in BIOS and configured the network card in Windows 7. However, the only way you can get the wake on lan checkbox to stay "on", is to also click the checkbox for "allow the computer to turn this device off to conserve power". Seems like a complete contradiction to me.
In the end, I don't see the link light on the network card lit up when the computer is in sleep. It seems to me that the machine is capable in BIOS and OS, but something must be configured wrong.
I cannot get the computer to wake up, and I am pretty sure that the port forwarding on my Ambit Gateway from Time Warner is configured properly to pass UDP packets to port 9 so that the computer gets a magic packet, which I am sending through DSLreports.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to properly configure this?
Thanks,
Jeff
