Remove the button from the size and leave it off,
firstly to determine if it is a hardware problem or driver issue,
i have had similar issues in the past not with the touchsmart,
and sometimes it been a faulty eject button and once a software issue causing the drive to reset itself every few minutes,
the blueray drive is a standard sata port so you can purchase one from number of different stores,
and ebay
I must say that I have been having problems with my Blue-Ray slot loaded DVD drive in my Touchsmart since the beginning of its use. The only thing that solves the problem is for me to open the system and to unplug the drive and then plug it back in. After doing that it will work fine for about 2 weeks and then it will go beserk with the eject motor executing over and over again for no reason. It will do it for hours on end until it stops. Once it stops the eject button no longer works and the only way to eject a cd is to use the remote or by going to the file manager, right clicking over the drive and selecting the eject option.
Now the drive will not properly write to my DVD or CD disks. I have taken to using a portable, USB, DVD drive to write my DVD's.
HP wants me to wipe my hard drive again but after doing it once I am not doing it again for this issue. (This is also the sole reason why I won't buy the extended protection plan). I have been trying to find a place where I can buy a replacement internal blu-ray drive for my touchsmart until I replace the system
Any of you know of a place that has parts for these things?
Thanks!
Smile, God is watching you.
I am using an IQ846 Touchsmart
