I recently had to replace my IQ526 DVD drive as it would no longer write to a disk and wanted to do the same thing. The 'Parts Smart' site shows the Blu-ray unit part number but it is not available to purchase (no selection box). I was able to buy a new LightScribe unit...my failed drive was not LS...from the site and it installed w/o any issues. I searched extensively for a Blu-ray replacement drive but it is not possible to acquire one. From the other threads, it would seem to be another case of 'buy upfront or perish.'

These parts are available on ebay, we're not saying ONLY buy them from partssurfer, just use the HP resources for the part number then trudge off to ebay.

Thank you Diane. I did check there but wasn't sure if it was the right drive for my configuration/model. Didn't want to plunk down the cash for something that I wasn't sure would be the correct spec. It would be helpful if there existed a table of all TS-T633(x) internal DVD writers that are compatible with the many variants of the HP T/S machines. The ones I found cautioned that they would only work with Dell computers even though it was the same basic drive number. It would seem that the TS-T633x drive is custom tailored to many manufacturers. I could not find one on eBay using the HP part number but maybe that's just me.

Best regards,

Les
