I am a completely newbie in the touchscreen application development. During my study, I find this dev zone very helpful and very promising. It may sound very silly but I would like to ask a couple of questions.

1. Do I need a hp touch smart PC to develop the touchscreen application? Because I am using hp dv 4 pavilion!! :(

2. If I develop a touchscreen software using this SDK, can i deploy the software to any touchscreen except the product of HP?

3. While I a development of the software how can I test the application, if I donot posses hp touch smart pc??

Thank you in advance.

You can develop touchscreen applications on any PC, but you won't be able to test the touch-specific functionality you build for you application unless you have a system with a touchscreen.

Using the TouchSmart SDK primarily enables you to produce applications that fit within the HP TouchSmart software environment. If you don't want to produce your app for that environment, you don't need to use the TouchSmart SDK. In that case, you'll want to focus solely on the MSDN documentation from Microsoft that deals with touch (Win32 APIs and WPF APIs).

Since Windows 7 contains APIs (both for Win32 apps and WPF apps) that standardize how your write applications that are touch enabled, you can test your app on almost any Windows 7 PC that has a touchscreen connected or integrated. If you want to write a HP TouchSmart hosted application, you'll need a HP TouchSmart PC for testing. There's no way around that.

Hi GTG, Your response to this question helped me understand the difference and learn that 'TouchSmart' is really unique to HP.
I already have a touch application (basically a pen-enabled application) developed with C# and it is deployed successfully on my tm2t. And, I just want it to be launched from a Carousel Tile of the TouchSmart Software just like 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' application is launched by the tile named 'Browser'. In that case, I do not really need to use TouchSmart SDK or do I?
Thanks in advance!

I want to know whether we can make touch screen software on .PHP. And remote terminal software for the screen which we will boot with wireless through MAC address.
