Hi!

Im a new owner of TS 600-1130ru (russian version). I live in Russia and I bought it here but Id like to have the TS software in ENGLISH (or Spanish). I have also notice that the russian version has NO several applications that I was specting to have (Recipes, Weather, Facebook..)

Of course I am not very happy..

I saw that there is gonna be a new version (4.0) of the software soon, anyway Id like to change the russian version for the english version, probably fixing the lack of programs too at the same same.

Where could I download the english version of the Touchsmart and how to install it?

This isn't as easy as it sounds,
Many products are available only in certain regions/countries due to licensing issues of the underlying products.

The same restrictions tie back to the OS and languages, there's not always a solution.

Hi Diana,

You are absolutly right, and I know this restrictions very well in other cases, specially with Microsoft BUT it exist always a solution, so with the care service of the company so with the help of other users.

In this case, I was reading that the only reason is that those softs have been NOT translated, probably bcos in the new 4.0 version will be included. This is not a case of license conflicts.

So, solution could be as easy as to get the recovery disk of anothe compatible TS 600 to mine but in english, or so a user makes a copy of his recovery disk and send it to me or post it.
I will be also happy to get an official answer from HP, of course, and it is also absurd than Im paying (here in Russia) 35% more for the same computer that u can buy in US having LESS software.. not fare, no?

What you're asking about just "making a recovery disk and sending it" is exactly what is NOT allowed, items are licensed and distributed by region, even drivers and warranties are country specific. Keep in mind that recovery discs are also region/model specific, and an EU machine is not the same as a US or CH machine.

Going around those limitations in the way you're asking is exactly what the manufacturers are so upset about. Fair or not, the manufacturers set the rules on the way their units are distributed and sold.

Ok.
SO first of all the manufacturer should have to advertise that out russian version,for ex, has NOT that software. Maybe I wouldbuy it if it has not it.
I saw in this forum several people in Canada complaining bcos they have no the receips program and they bought the computers spedifically for their kitchens...
It is so difficult to make a simple download on the hp website to download that program?? I dont thing so.
Im not asking to send me ANYTHING, I was just exposing the possible solutions, including the best and simpliest one:
HP provides the software that is not available in several reagion in a download page, in english for users that have paid 1000-1500 euros for their machines.
I feel VERY dissapointed bcos I was thinking to buy a better performance computer from ACER and I chose HP bcos of his famous quality and servide.
Now I feel very dissapointed.

-I have to look in the internet 1 day to be able to install Microsoft Touch Pack bcos it was not possible (I posted the solution on this forum)

- MS Lagoon is Veeery slow and response 3-5 secondsafter touching, the same withseveral other touch applications.

-Touchsmart software works really slow, even after restoring and bringing the computer "as new". Cannot manage my photo albums and music (big ones)

- I have no weather application, Flicker, Facebook, Receips, DVD and Live TV! Of course I dont wanna hev Hulu or other applications only available for US users...

And beaing a senios manager of a programming company let me tell you and to hp that: If it is a question of licensing/paying/money... SELL THE APPLICATIONS
Put as price for the applications, put then in hp on line shop and Im sure lot of users willbe happy to pay for them. No?

Again, if someone know a solution about how to install this applications, dowloading some updates or files from hp, i will appreciate. Till HP provide us a better solution

Also new Touchsmart 4.0 soft works on my 600-1130ru. I have now Receipts and even Corel Paint it...

It's a nice rant, really it is, and you're making great points as far as common sense, but the problem is that large manufacturers do not use common sense in the decisions of what software they make available for which model.

If HP had advertised the RU model has xx features, and they are not there, HP is in the wrong, if HP does not advertise what features it has, and you don't ask RU customer service, then assuming that the unit has these features is not HP's mistake.

Even the differences in the US and Canadian software builds can be significant.
Poor software and customer support is common in many companies in many regions, HP isn't different from Acer, Dell, or Lenovo in that regard.

Just because the recipe box xml manifest lists languages does not mean that HP offers the software for that region, I'm sure you see it in your business, what the programmers do verses what the sales, marketing, and legal departments do are sometimes very different.

This extra code I found it in the new version (4.0) and It was not on the last updated version I saw of Receipt from previos 3.0, so I supose HP is working in a multilanguage with all software included version in 4.0
.. I hope

It works now fine for me, just no headset support in the application, but working to get it... I think just some modifications on code will do the job.
