So after a year of owning this laptop I went from being absulutely stunned by it's wonderful features to becoming highly disappointed in  choosing another HP computer (which I will never do again). My computer is completely dead and each time i turn it on the lock keys just blink continuously. This is clearly evidence of a hardware failure. The number of blinks per set is supposed to be code of some sort of hardware failure but I can't seem to understand how to read the code.

A few months after owning the laptop it would overheat uncontrollably, which caused extremely loud fan speeds and eventually I couldn't even bring the thing to class because it was extremely loud as well as terribly embarrassing. I went from using it for fun to using it when a public computer wasn't available.

It's definitely not a harddrive issue because I am now using it as an external to my mac. I'm hoping it's not a problem with the processor because that's expensive, but it seems like that's the most logical issue. I hope someone can come up with some answers to this and I'm very sorry for anyone else that has been having this issue.

First of all, try this.

Remove everything that plugged into the laptop.
Then remove the battery and disconnect the AC Adapter.
Then slide and hold the power switch for about 2 minutes.

After this try to boot up the laptop!

--------------------------------------------------
If that dosn't work try this:

The tx2z-1000cto notebook computers built in 2009 or later use blinking LEDS to identify hardware component reporting an error during startup. The codes are not valid for other models.

Press the power button to turn on the computer, and look for blinking LED lights on the keyboard.

Count the number of blinks in the sequence (between1 and 8 blinks) After the sequence of blinks or beeps, there is a pause for a few seconds, and the sequence is repeated (usually 3 or 4 times).

Please tell me the number of blinks before the sequence is repeated. e.g. (Blink, blink, blink, pause.... Blink, blink, blink, pause...)
I would consider this to be three blinks in the sequence!

I customised my HP tx2z with:
6GB RAM
400GB 5200rpm Hard Disk
2.4Ghz AMD Turrion Ultra x2 ZM-86
Bluetooth + Wireless N
Lightscribe DVD-RW drive

I live in the UK - But I imported my tx2 from america.

Mangi, you're tx2z unfortunately has BIOS curroption. You will probably have to replace your motherboard.

:( that's not very good news :(

what could cause such a problem?

it's a well known fact that this model overheats, could it be that the motherboard got so much heated that it bent and shorted the bios chip maybe?

I got the same problem but fix it with oven, check this post http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com/forum/thread/3501/How-I-fixed-my-dead-TX2-black-screen/

It is not a joke, you can try this anyway before send it to HP for replace the mainboard.

Mine works fine now, I do a clen job on the fan by the way and now the fan noise is lower than before.Laughing

My problem was one of the slots for the RAM. I had initially thought it was because of a faulty RAM so by trial and error I removed one RAM at a time and started the laptop hoping that it would boot. I found that when I removed one of the RAMs, it booted with no problems. I then bought a brand new RAM and when I inserted it into the free slot it stared again with the beeps. Thus I figured that the RAM slot was the reason!!!

Chances are you seated one of the RAM chips incorrectly, I have done that more times than I can count when taking mine apart.
