Prinerily: I do not know computer type you have. Goto accessories in your program list. Click on it when it opens. Click on ease of access file.When that opens, click On screen key board, click on narrator (Kids will have blast with this one because computer then talks.) and last of Windows Speech Recognition. You will have to help them with voice training. I am dissable as well that is why I purchased the HP Touchsmart 600-1050 because it has all these features plus to be able to touch the screen as well. I have two children's voice activated software with games. I be gladly to give to you for free. The also inter act with inter explorer as well. Dragon speaking inter acts with ever thing. I have not tested out Windows Speech Recognition to what software it inter acts with. I know it work with Microsoft Office and internet explorer and e-mail. I used it before. Bonnie, they really are not comparable items in a way that would help, there are pro's and con's to both devices, the Touchsmart PC is more involved and a full PC, the ipad is a much more limited device.

The more limited device may offer you a better expereince depnding on how much support you will need on the device in the future.
