The carousel of HP TouchSmart software on my tm2t notebook has a tile named 'Browser' which provides quick-launch for 'Microsoft Internet Explorer application' on my notebook.

I can easily add a new tile for a website like 'http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com' also to this carousel.

The carousel also has a tile for 'Windows Program' called 'DVD'. My question is how to create a tile for my custom windows program which I created in C# and it works nicely when clicked from the usual 'Start > All Programs' process?

Thanks

HP TouchSmart model: tm2t-2100

If you have the TouchSmart 4.0 software, you can't do it through the software like you could in 3.0. You'll have to use RegisterSmartCenterApp.exe. This utility is documented in the TouchSmart 4.0 SDK, which you can find for download right on this site in the Downloads section.

ok without being branded an idiot... Is there a way to add an existing application toe the carousel? Like adding links from any MS Office App directly to it?

You can add a tile for a Windows app the same way: Create an XML file that describes the app (give it a NEW GUID, AppPath, AppParameters, DisplayName, etc. according to the developer guidelines/SDK [Type needs to be ShortcutToExe]) and then use RegisterSmartCenterApp.exe to get it to show in SmartCenter.

Has anyone done this with an existing application in TouchSmart 4.0 and gotten it to work?

--Nevermind. Figured out my mistake and got it to work.

Is there a carousel type program that can be used outside of the TouchSmart Program?

Not sure what you mean by used outside of the TouchSmart Program. Can you give an example of what would happen in the scenario you are thinking of?

I mean on the main desktop without starting the HP Touchsmart shell. A scrolling menu showing programs, i.e. Woed Excel, Media Center, etc

You can develop any software you like without involving the HP TouchSmart shell (since this is a developer-focused site, I'm assuming you are asking a software development question). Just write a standalone Windows app that does what you want. Or am I misunderstanding something? Are you asking for how to implement a scrolling menu in the style of the HP TouchSmart shell that works outside the shell? If so, the answer is still similar: pick any Windows software development tool and write the app using that tool. That's the way the TouchSmart shell was developed as well (using Visual Studio and Windows Presentation Foundation from Microsoft).

Or maybe (if you're not asking a software development question) you're asking if someone has already developed such a piece of software and you're interested in a website where you can download such a thing, maybe even purchase it?

Please pardon any confusion on my part, but I still really don't quite get what you're after.

Sorry for the confusion. If it's available then I would possibly purchase. If not I'll dabble with developing it.

I haven't kept up with what kind of launchers are out there that might have carousels, so I'm afraid I can't point you to anything.

rocketdock.com this might work for you . I like these and have the rocketdock on my vista partition . But if you like a different style then hit the "Get Addons" tab at the top of the page there are a few that might suit your needs.
