Hi Forum this is my first time posting on here and am lookin for some advice ..

I ordered my Touchsmart last year and when it came it didnt have the HDMI input i was wanting for the PS3 and it didnt have the Blu Ray Drive either ... but i fell in love with it straight away and decided to keep it ...

After doin some research i found that my 1040uk model has the same motherboard (IPPA-M5 e60) as the 1050uk model so from this i gathered the HDMI port must be a seperate board and lookin at parts on HP site i found that its called M5 GAME CONSOLE HDMI/COMPOSITE INPUT BOARD part no 533359-001 .. i found this on a part site for £46.26 .

My question is does anyone know if its a straight forward fit ..? do i need any cables i couldnt find a cable on the parts list .. also i cant find the bezel for it so does anyone know if the bezel comes with the board .. ?

I also found the Blu Ray Drive on the same parts site part no 466803-001 for £198.94

I was a bit disapointed when i got this PC as it has Full 1080p HD but no input source to use it .. the best it has is S-Video and i read they can only do 480p...

Many Thanx Forumers .. Hope Someone Can Help Me ..

Just to say that i have the same issue at the moment. I would like to use my laptop at times with this nice big screen.

So i would love someone to let us know if this can be done and how to go about it.

Bad news, these units are NOT built to be just display panels, even the units with HDMI inputs are somewhat of a workaround.

In other words if you don't have the HDMI input, there is not an easy way to get a signal in, and no, it's not as simple as you think, there is no magic answer to solve this one.

Thanks for your quick reply. Now you do say that it is not easy, thus meaning possible? :)
I love my touchsmart, but are very keen to know what is the process to add this HDMI port if it is possible, even though difficult,...

Let me put it this way, nothing in the world is impossible if you spend enough money and time on it.

That being said, I have seen zero posts on any board, here or at HP that someone has done this and succeeded.

You would need the service manual for the units to determine that, it's not info that's part of the data they give consumers.
