I bought my HP Touchsmart tx2 as a first computer for high school. when I received it I was very happy for the first week. Then my charger cable stopped working. I sent off for a new one and was unable to use my computer for 2 weeks while the new charger cable was in transit. I received my new charger cable. After 2 weeks my new charger cable stopped working. I ordered another charger cable and was charged $50 for it even though both charger cables broke through no fault of my own. My latest charger cable worked fine my computer stopped working. It would overheat while on flat surfaces, rugs, basically any type of surface. So I got a cardboard box, cut a hole in it under the cooling fan. finally my computer was working, NOT. 2 thin bars would show up on my screen and nothing would show up below these bars. So I decided to sell my computer and buy an Alienware M11x. before I sold it i took it to Geek Squad. They called me after 1 day and said that what i had was no better than a pile of plastic. So now after 6 months I am $1150 down (I still had to pay the Geek Squad), and really I only got a working computer for about 1 month. Bottom line is DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF EXPENSIVE JUNK!!!!!!!!!!

Will,
I can understand your frustration, but if you just want to come in, complain and be gone, but it doesn't sound like you took advantage of teh resources you had available to you..

You say "after 6 months I'm $1150 down and I still had to pay the geek squad" the laptop comes with a 1 year warranty from HP, it's there for you to use in this kind of a situation. I would trust HP far more than the Geek Squad.

HP will do nothing for me. I have contacted them many times and they said that my warranty was 3 months not a year

Was it not new? the standard warranty for a new HP laptop from Bestbuy is indeed 1 year, just the same as if you bought from hp.com.

First of all I bought it from Amazon secondly I'm sure I know more about this situation then you especially if you think you can only buy this computer from those 2 providers

It doesn't matter where you bought it, if you bought new the unit comes with a 1 year warranty from HP, the 90-day warranty is normally refurbished units.

Then why did you ask me where I got it and if it came with the year warranty I obviously would have gotten a new computer which I didn't so there is no year warranty or HP is growing so poor and disliked that they can't even afford their own computers

I asked where you got it so you could confirm that it's new, and a new machine has a 1 year warranty. I made the assumption on Best Buy because you said you had Geek Squad work on it, and they are a Best Buy group (and not always very good)

It would not be unheard of for a Geek Squad tech to not bother mentioning that you have a 1 year HP warranty since they want to get the work repairing the laptop and making the $$$ for their own team.

You say "obviously I got a new computer" but when you start talking about 90-day warranties, then that makes someone like myself think that you may have bought a refurb since those ARE a 90-day warranty.

That's the how and why of why I have said and asked the questions that I did.

Geek Squad may not have mentioned the warranty but I'm assuming HP might have any of the three times I called regarding the said warranty

i'm new here, i-m from spain, and i have one tx2 since two year, and i´m totaly agree whit you. This tablet y too bad, and as i can read in this foro, a lot of people have a bigg problem whit it. So for futures buyers, my recomendations is do not buy a tx2 from hp. is a big box of problems.
Thanks
