I can't tell whether this is a Windows Vista problem or a TouchSmart problem.

I have my new IQ504 hooked up to my wireless network.   It sees iTunes and Internet ok, but I can't get it to see the other computer hooked up to my network, nor can the other computer see the TouchSmart PC.   Any ideas where I should start looking in my settings?   Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, my other PC is an iMac duo core running on Mac OS X,  with an Airport wireless router.

Make sure the "workgroup" names are the same. I think the default for vista is WORKGROUP.

You can change it on your Touchsmart by right clicking on "my computer" and selecting properties. In the properties menu, scroll down until you see computer name, domain and workgroup settings. To the right of that you will see a "change settings" link. After clicking on it select continue.
Next you will see a 5 tabbed dialog box with the first tab active. Click on "change" and in the next window you can change the workgroup name to whatever you want. You will have to use the same workgroup name as on your mac, but since I don't know much about apples, you are on your own with that.

Also, Vista has a distinction between public and private (home/work) network types. If you set your network type to public when the wireless network was first setup, Windows turns off the discoverability and browsing services, meaning you can't get to local network resources.

Thanks Geektieguy...a basic troubleshooting tip that I missed. :-)

To change those settings, right click on the "Network" icon (if its not on your desktop, you can go to the start button to open the start menu then right click on "network" in the start menu)
once in the network and sharing center, you can turn network discovery, file sharing, printer sharing, etc on. You will also want to make sure that you have a private network and password protecetd sharing is on (my own preference)

:) Thanks for filling in the details for me, David. I felt a little lazy, so I left out the more useful steps... :(

Thanks David and Geek TieGuy for your helpful suggestions. I did go into my Network and Sharing center and made those changes. I also went to the command prompt and pinged to ensure I had my IP address correct so both machines could see each other. I also installed Bonjour for Windows which is supposed to allow machines to see each other without having to mess with IP addresses and such.

I was able to map my Mac HDD to the Windows Explorer, and I can see the TouchSmart on my Mac, so I call that "Success"!

Thanks again!
