Hi all,

I am a researcher at the University of Bristol, working in my spare time with a friend on multi touch applications to transform our nanoscience instrumentation from graphical UIs to multi touch UIs (http://sine.ni.com/cs/app/doc/p/id/cs-13097)

We've had a great deal of success using LabVIEW and our homebuilt multi touch table (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3KAmWgNaoM) but we are very keen to move to commercial multi touch input devices.

However, our requirements are for more than 2, preferably more than 5 touch points at the same time and it is proving very difficult to find suitable hardware!  If anyone could help with suggestions and details of how many simultaneous inputs the HP touchsmart range of devices can detect that would be fantastically useful!

Many thanks for your time and any suggestions you can make,
Loren

Hi Loren,

The desktop models can do 2 points. Some of the laptops can do more, but I don't remember what the precise number is. I think the tx2 did up to 10. Not sure what the tm2 can do.

Hi Loren,

Using custom application, I'm able to capture upto 6 points on HP tx2.

Many thanks for the info Mohan, does the custom application search for touch events itself or just read what the sensors tell it?

Cheers,

Loren

The tm2 can do 2 simultaneous touch points. This is a drivers, not hardware limitation.
