No, you don't need to use the SDK / guidelines unless you want to integrate your Point-Of-Sale app into the larger TouchSmart software environment. Windows provides all the touch/zoom/manipulation APIs for your app to take advantage of.
I have create a POS application and was looking to use the Touchsmart as the computer. The question I have, Is the SDK required for me to use in with my application to do simple button clicks on the screen? I didn't know if the SDK was required for more intricate program functions like zooming and such.
