Most likely something got installed that is interfering with the graphic card capability of displaying Windows aero.
I would recommend going to the device manager of the control panel uninstall the display adapter and restart.
If you see any ghost driver in there uninstall them as well.
You might also want to make sure that your resolution is set has high and that the colors are set to 32 bit in the display settings
When I try to run the touch software, it's telling me that I have to enable Windows Aero in the Personalization properties. Problem is, there doesn't seem to be any option.
Since the last time I ran the touch software, I've done two things:
1)Change the background wallpaper
2) Install some x64 Vista codecs so that Windows Media Center can run XVID avi files.
Would greatly appreciate ANY help in getting the touch software to work again - thanks!
Try this: Goto Control Panel - System - Windows Experience Index - Update My score.
Or this: Goto Start - in the Start Search bar type in Services and hit enter - goto Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager and make sure it is not disabled. If it is disabled, set to automatic. If it is already set to automatic, click on restart.
One of those ought to get Aero back.

Right click on desktop and choose personalize.
Pick Windows color and appearence from top of list.
Then click on "Open Classic appearence properties"
from the color scheme menue choose "Windows Aero".
That should do the trick. If not then the display drives may be either wrong or corrupted.

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
HP Support is typically useless.
What you need to do is go to the HP website and download the latest graphics card drivers. Once you do that you can enable Aero through the personalize option.
