Make those recovery DVDs now and you will thank yourself in the long run.
First thing I would do is make sure the HP Support/update assistant is run multiple times to be sure it's up to date, run Windows update to be sure it's up to date, make sure sure you have up to date and running antivirus software.
Triple check the HP components even if it says they're fine by going to the HP.com website and looking in the support section for your model for updated files.
If nothing comes up, I'd consider a full "reset to factory" using the Recovery DVDs that you made since it's only a few weeks old.
I hope this is alright to ask! (And in the right place, really...)
My TouchSmart 610-1010UK is fairly new (I've had it for about 3-4 weeks) and about a week or two ago my SmartCenter 4.0 stopped working. Windows says that it is searching for a solution and closes it. I've tried opening it in every way possible, but it doesn't open -- I've even tried making a new admin account and it's the same there. As it's fairly new, I don't have THAT much installed but I'm wondering if there could be a conflict somewhere? I have my suspicions it may be Photoshop CS5 (but I really hope not!) or Devil May Cry 4 (which installs something to do with NVIDIA PhysX along with it). Maybe even iTunes? But somehow, I can't see that... and I'd rather not have to send it back, in all honesty.
If anyone could help me find some sort of solution to this - I would really appreciate it! As there's still few self-installed things, I don't mind listing them if neccessary.
Thank you very much! It looks like I will (unfortunately) have to restore it to it's factory settings.
But again, thank you! ^^;
