610-1050f -Touchsmart browser stopped working recently.  It used to work fine.  The circular spinner spins, the disappears.  No error screen.  All other Touchsmart apps work fine.  I uninstalled just the browser and reinstalled using Recovery Manager.  No change.  I then unistalled every Touchsmart app and SmartCenter on the advice of HP Support, then re-installed them all.  No change.  I created another user account and the browser works fine there.  HP suggested that I use System Recoveryl to restore the computer to factory.  I am sure there is another way.  I'd really appreciate any assistance!

A new profile is also something I'd suggest, it's not simple, but it will solve profile specific issues, which this certainly sounds like.

This worked for me for about five minutes. All the rework I had to do after creating a new profile personalizing my settings, and then the TouchSmart broswer stopped working again!

That usually means you're installing or using something that's causing the issue, and it's not always that simple to find, that's my bet, you've installed something it doesn't like, and then once you use it, you have issues.

In my case I created another user and it has worked ever since. To the best of my knowledge I ended up installing all the same programs that were installed in my original user profile. If the TouchSmart browser is that finicky, HP should fix it or give us some better tools to diagnose the problem or error messages than just closing with no message at all.

I found out what it was. I am kind of a neat freak, so I always default my browser home page to a blank page. For the sake of trying, I changed the home page to an actual website, and then the Touchsmart browser worked. Too bad I didn't discover this before I messed up with all my other settings.
