I wouldn't be assuming there's a direct upgrade path yet, not all models have an upgrade path and it usually takes a bit before we hear about the rollouts of the new version.

As far as I know there are no plans at the moment to provide an official upgrade to TouchSmart 5.0 Magic Canvas for customers of previous versions.

Sorry to have to say this, but whoever posted that article made a mistake by leaving in the information about the upgrade. It does not exist at this point.
