There are a lot more items (20+!)that you should install with Windows 7 upgrades on this machine including the NextWindow Multi-Touch Device Driver Update sp44609.

Have you also done those?

I have installed:

44643
44609
44470
44459
44353
41095
52549

I believe 44643 is the main one

I'm not disagreeing, but there are 20+ items and you still haven't said that you have the updated one I listed above, that one is key to proper touch operation with Win7. OOps, just saw that you did the next-window update.

Do you get ANY touch in Win7? or is it just that Touchsmart isn't working?

No touch since win7 upgrade. No feedback either - normally you could hear a faint sound, an indication that screen recognizes touch.

So you get no beep? that's not good since the beep is generated from the touch interface board completely independent of the OS

When I say completely independent I mean it, there's a small piezoelectric speaker on the touch board that is what makes the feedback sound.

Well that means the driver for the touch screen is not installed properly or is not the right one.

NO it doesn't! the beep is generated by the touch board itself BEFORE drivers get loaded, go right into the BIOS, the touch screen will beep.

You're not fully understanding it the way I'm explaining it, the beep is BEFORE the OS, if it beeps and doesn't work, sure that's a driver, but no beep means the board isn't even working. So if the touch board itself isn't working, there's no signal to give to the OS, and no way it will ever EVER work.
