As far as i can tell, plugging in external speakers mutes the internal speakers.
Other than plugging and unplugging wires, is there any way to switch between using the built in speakers and sending sound to the speaker out?
Thanks...
i guess you're also looking on ways to improve bass on the speakers.... i;m looking to connect the speakers wirelessly to the touchsmart.
anyone think that bluetooth devices [adapter] connected to a 2.1 speaker work with the touchsmart....
I appreciate the responses. I use my current PC in the kitchen (XP with 15 inch touchscreen monitor) as a control center for a whole-house audio system I've cobbled together. With that PC, I always use the ceiling speakers in the kitchen for audio. Now that I have a Touchsmart on the way, I was wishing for some programmatic/utility-based way to toggle between using the built-in speakers and the line out, so that we would not be trying to plug-unplug all the time to do this switch.
I am also looking for a way to switch between internal & external speakers. I understand it can be done if you are using the SPDIF audio out. The question is if this can be done using the digital out?
Any help is appreciated!
hey guys,
looks like i was able to found a solution to my problem.
problem is i want a solution on switching between internal and external speakers without me plugging and unplugging the audio cable at the back of the touchsmart. those of you who wall-mounted their TS knows that this is a pain in the ass.
since our TS is equipped with bluetooth, it should be able to communicate with a bluetooth receiver [lie having a bluetooth headset and you should be able to listen to your touchsmart wirelessly].
now i found this nifty device:
anycom bar-10
this device has a RCA left and right input [which can also be converted to miniplug or 3.5mm for 2.1 powered PC speakers]
after pairing the TS and the Anycom bar-10, i can now stream my music via bluetooth to the 2.1 powered speaker [logitech in my case] that's about 5 feet away from the TS. to switch back between internal and external speaker, you just have to go to the sound properties and toggle between them. you would have to restart the player though [in my case, windows media player] when you are switching inputs.
so in conclusion, 1 less wire going out from my TS and no more plugging and unplugging an audio cable. problem solved!!! :)
by the way, this anycom bar-10 can be connected to any sound equipment, like your home theater receiver. specs says within 30 feet.
this also could work in your cars if you have a bluetooth dongle to your ipod or mp3 player and you have an aux in in your car. the device comes with cables and AC and DC adaptors.
size is small, probably similar to a cellphone [very light too]
here's the link for the anycom bar-10:

let me know if you have questions.
Hi Guys,
Slighty off the subject, but does any body know how to improve the sound from the speakers, mine sounds a bit tinny and seriously need some bass.
Or how can i connect wired to my yamaha A/V amp
Other that this, im really impressed with mt IQ810uk.
Hi LFC_UK,
your post is actually not off topic. i started with this post due to the same problem that you have now.
2 solutions:
1. if you want to use a PC 2.1 powered speakers, you can do what i did and use a bluetooth receiver [or if you're fine with cable, you can connect the PC speakers directly]
2. if you want to connect to your AV receiver, the touchsmart has a digital out [coax-out] that you can connect.
did that solved your problem?
