Hello,
I have the TM2-2200 with the core i5 CPU that originally came with 4 gigs of RAM which I upgraded to 8.
Overall, the build quality is good and it feels really solid - with one exception. Both of the ruber bumpers at the top of my screen on either side of the webcam came off. They kept getting caught on my wrist while I was writing in tablet mode and I guess they eventually got dislodged. I contacted HP support and of all things, they told me that I'd have to send it in for a repair and it would take about three weeks! I can do without them for now but not my tablet as I'm in grad school and use it every day.
From a use standpoint, battery life is exceptional. I used to have a TX2500 with an extended batery and I wouuld at best get about 3.5 hours out of it while running in "energy saver" mode. With my TM2 I am getting more than 4 hours in balanced mode. I can stretch that to six hours in energy saver. Thats awesome.
The screen is very good but as with any tablet, I clean smudges off the screen all the time.
Performance is very snappy and better than I expected for a laptop.
I've not kept track of the model numbers but I'd go with the "2" series 2190 or better.
I thought I'd do a lot with the touchsmart software on this like I do with my TS desktop but I don't. Probably because I use this more for school and my desktop more for fun. When I did use the TS software on it, it was responsive and fun. Quicker than on my desktop TS.
Regarding the RAM, I've always heard that to work in dual channel you have to have two similar memory sticks. IMHO, I'd just order the minimum RAM then purchase some high quality 4 gig sticks and swap them out. IIRC, the sticks that came in mine were Hyinx.
Overall, I'm very happy with it.
