Hello,

This is a bit of a lengthy post, but I want to get everything out so that the answers to questions are appropriate, and you might find it interesting what I'm doing here. You can skip down to the quesitons though.

I'm totally new to this whole technology, but I love it.  I have an idea for a music app that I have been creating prototypes for that use the computer keyboard, but the touch interface may be much more suited for what I'm trying to do, because I can make it more ergonomic and flexible etc.

I am also somewhat new to WPF, and C#, and OOP in general. I have been doing VBScript and VB.NET for years making little apps for my job. I've messed with WPF and LightSwitch (which is based on SilverLight) and read up on it, so I know some of the basics of WPF.

What I think I should start with is a simple working prototype to see if the concept will work  with a touchscreen. Fortunately my roomate has an HP Touchsmart which I recommended for him (amazingly I was not even thinking of using it for my project until the other night a light bulb went off in my head). So I can test it there. If it works, I'm probably going to splurge and buy an HP Touchsmart. The 20" screen will give me just enough room to add all the buttons I need.

Ok so my question(s) is/are:

1. What is the bare minimum I need in order to just test the interface? I already tried a simple app in WPF that had two buttons, I tried tapping the buttons, but it only changed focus to the button and did not click the button.  Do I need to download something from MSDN or write some API calls? I could not quickly find any solutions on MSDN, there was alot of explaing what touch was, but not much explanations on how to develop apps.

2. Is creating this app with the HP Touchsmart SDK going to add much complexity to developing the app? It sounds like I have to make the buttons really large and other things. Or do you think it's easier to get things done with the SDK, and it works smoother. It doesn't seem to make sense to use the SDK if I don't really need it. Perhaps there are some features that are friendly with MIDI and sound etc. that I'm not aware of.

I really appreciate the help launching this project.
