Hello ividic: You need to contact HP direct support on line with your computer it is free and your computer has a one year warranty. They will be able to addres your issue and help you fix your errors you have made installing Windows 7. and also help you to use your computer. I am running the older version of touchsmart software. You may want to go to our computers page web-site and down load touchsmart software from there. Let HP direct support guide you first so you do not end up messing up your computer again. All you had to do was orginally was just remove the programs you did not want to use through programs and feature windows 7 was already installed.
Hi,
I am new user of touchsmart 600 pc.
I wasn't satisfied with bundled software so I installed fresh copy of windows 7 64-bit.
And now I menaged to install touchsmart suite and some apps like notes, music..
But the problem is that touchsmart apps center does not direct me to apps, it directs me to hp website. Is it possible to fix this somehow?
Thank You
http://www.hp.com/global/touchsmart/index.html?language=en&country=us&platfor... will get you to the page that's displayed as the "app center"
There's no reason to deal with HP support if you don't need to.
That is the answer, only one more thing..
How to "insert" that link in apps center, because when I open app center I am directed to HP site and I do not have address bar or any option to insert other web site address. I suppose that I should insert your link somewhere into configuration file of apps center or something like that?
And is it possible that there are only 8 apps in apps center?
Thank you!
I don't run the app center so I don't have that answer, the app center is somewhat unique in the way it's deployed from HP, I don't believe that you can backfill its info on a clean install, you have to have it done via Recovery media.
If I were hunting for it I'd suspect a registry entry, but that's just a guess. This is one of the reasons to not do a "clean install" there's just no need, you can uninstall what you want from the Control panel.
Diane is right. The AppCenter app directs you to the correct web page via Registry entries, but not in any way you may think. It's pretty complicated. I'd just go with using the website address in a regular browser. Download the apps you want from there.
Edit: I see you can't download apps from there through a regular browser. Hmm.
I know that I can uninstall programs from control panel, but I like "fresh start" on new computer, also touch smart 600 with all bundled software is slower then my 5 years old nx9420. That's the reason I did clean install.
I can't install apps from regular browser, but if the all apps for touch smart software are these 8 apps from Diane link I do not even need apps center.
One question from curiosity: Do you even use touch smart software on your daily basis?
Because for me is very limited and little bit laggy. For now I think that whole touch smart suite is based on few apps to demonstrate touch screen display. Which are the apps that you are using?
I know you want to say that a clean install is "faster" but that's not the case, it's all the other items, Touchsmart software included (sorry GTG) that slow down the boot process, in this day and age there is just no reason to gut the machine to put a new OS on it when the uninstall process works at uninstalling the applications. HP plays by the rules, it doesn't sneak anything in under the RADAR, you can uninstall what you want and stop whatever other services you want via msconfig to get the machine the way you want it.
The Touchsmart suite is not for everyone, and not for what many people do daily, once you get outside it's designed comfort zones its usability decreases, that's why it also has a keyboard and mouse, I use both methods and it works very well for me.
Our office uses Touchsmart units as kiosks for the building and they're fantastic.
Just a few facts for everyone: No part of the TouchSmart software foundation is on the boot path (beginning with TouchSmart 3.0), so it does not contribute to slowing of the boot process. HP has very strict testing of boot performance, and if any software component slows down boot by more than a certain amount, measures are usually taken to correct that. Canvas, Calendar, Music, Photo and Video have background services in order to do database synchronization of information needed to display the correct UI in each.
For those of you who want the AppsCenter app to redirect to the correct page after doing a "clean" install of Windows 7, here is the information that needs to be in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hewlett-Packard\SystemProperties]
"platform"="HPD"
"release"="94"
"pcbrand"="Pavilion"
"cycle"="94;Pavilion"
"productnumber"="1111111-ABA"
"modelnumber"="1111111111"
"serialnumber"="111111111111"
"OSBit"="64"
"pcseller"="-1"
"productname"="HP TouchSmart 1111111111"
"language"="en"
"country"="us"
I tried edit registry but again I am directed to wrong site. Maybe there is problem because I have Touch smart 600 PC and your's from Pavilion series. Also I am from Croatia, so maybe country is blocking right path. I wrote my product number, model number, serial number and product name. So I think problem is with strings release, pcbrand and cycle.
Thank you for your help
What happens if you just take everything as I've shown? Don't try to use your own, real data. Especially don't modify pcbrand, platform, release, cycle, language and country.
The AppsCenter app is officially only supported for U.S. English systems, I think.
I tried your registry values and also same thing happens. Maybe I am doing something wrong. For example I go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hewlett-Packard\SystemProperties
and then create new string value. I name it platform and for value I write HPD. Is this good procedure or I am doing something wrong? Are all this values you wrote string values?
My snippets were taken from a .reg file. Maybe you can just create such a file and then copy-paste my example into it.
By the way, I can't guarantee that it will work, even with these entries, since you are in Croatia.
Thank you so much, now it works!
The problem was that I created new strings one by one and wrote your values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hewlett-Packard\System Properties. First time I started editing registry on that location there was 2 strings (Default) without value and string named UUID with value 1384C340-FCE5-11DF-AB10-7071BCE11361.
And now when I insert .reg file with your values that created new key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hewlett-Packard named SystemProperties.
I didn't see space between System Properties in my registry.
And once again Thank you!
Yeah, those spaces...!
Glad it's working out now. My pleasure to be of assistance.
Diane, thank you for the apps center link. I clicked on it and I saved it to my favorites in IE. I have a DV6T Select Edition laptop that came with the Touchsmart 4.0 installed by HP (built 11/10). I noticed there are several apps listed in that apps center. How do I add that apps center link to my carousel bar? I also saw the HP RUSE free download in that center. Will that game work on my laptop? How do I download it to my computer if it is compatible. Do I just click on that icon and it does everything automatically. Also, can I add that RUSE game to my carousel bar? There is very little information on the internet on how to use the touchsmart on my laptop. Thanks again.
Kendall, the instructions are in the thread above, you can use those, the requirement for the app center is having the ver 4.x Touchsmart software installed, there's really nothing else "special" about them
