And when you decode or Google the BSOD code what does it point you to?
BSODs are not a complete mystery, they can point you at the right direction to look for the issue.
My bet? you have a driver that SP1 doesn't like.
Hi all
Not sure if any one else seeing the same problem.
Every time I update to windows 7 service pack 1 (KB976932) my Tx2Z starts crashing with BSOD.
There is no apparent error shown, but BSOD happens every 2-3 hours of work.
However, to check, I reinstalled (clean) windows 7 and I have prevented the machine to automatically update to service pack 1. No BSODs in last 3 months.
I have appled every other update without any problem. And everytime I update to service pack 1, BSODs start all over again.
I would like to resolve this issue and would like to update to service pack 1 (because I think its good to do so ?)
Any clues to resolve this issue will be helpful.
thanks

Thanks Diane...
But there is no code.. it just shows BSOD and then restarts the computer. If I let it boot.. either during the boot.. or right after windows starting it BSOD again.
Can you (or someone else) please tell me how do I figure the "BSOD code" you are talking about... how do I "decode" taht code to figure which driver is screwing things up.
Sorry for the newbie questions.... and thanks for any help in this regard
best

First tell it NOT to automatically reboot when it BSODs in the Advanced System Properties, and you will see the codes, they're right there on the screen full of text, trust me the screen isn't just empty blue, those words actually mean something.
More than you ever wanted to know about BSODs, it's for XP but the core is the same http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&...
See the part that says "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" that's a HUGE clue in to the cause of the BSOD in that example.
Ah the amazing things we learn on this forum ! :)
Thanks Diane.
Next step, I reinstall the service pack 1 (which windows has been begging me to do via windows updates) and the cross my fingers... hold my breath for a BSOD crash.
Get the codes.. google them... if I cant figure... I come to your refuge again.
see you in a few :)
