I've been reading though these posts and see I have many options for a processor upgrade. I have a touchsmart 600 1055 w 4 gb of memory. I plan to upgrade to 8 tomorrow. I also seen that someone stated that 2x 8 gb memory will work. The book doesn't show this. Will this work? And my main question, What is the best processor upgrade option at this time? Thanks for any help.

Well are you using 32bit or 64bit OS? They way I understand it is if 32 you can only use a certain % of memory so 4gig would only use like 3.25 or something like that! As for 64 you can use all 4gigs at least! 8 gigs that I know of but maybe 16 ! I only have 8 currently on mine ! But I will get 8 gigs more and let you know ! RT69

Your best bet is to get the TouchSmart 4.0 all-in-one upgrade package from this site. That will get you the 4.0 software and most of the apps. Then you can go to the download page for your TouchSmart model on HP's support site and get the 5.x software that came with your model. For example, if you have a TouchSmart 520, here's the software download page for that: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=...

Did you mention yet what model of TouchSmart PC you have? The all-in-one upgrade package you can download here is actually more than an upgrade. It will also allow clean install. Is that the one that says your system doesn't meet the requirements?

You can also get a set of Recovery DVDs from HP directly for under $30 if you didn't make a set when you got the computer. Those will restore the system to "like new" and are the best way to get that result.
