Seagate has been having a lot of problems with the 7200.11 series drives and has created a firmware update bootable disk to try to fix the problem. The bug affects the 500, 750 1TB and I think the 1.5TB drives. Although my drive is listed, the firmware that I have "HPxx" does not match the seagate SD15 firmware so I am going to hold off on the fix.

According to seagate, the data IS STILL on the drive and they will apparently offer a free recovery for you if you contact them. Unfortunately, with the drive being a HP OEM, they may refer you back to HP support.

Heres a link with some info that may help you.
