Theres a lot of good discussion over at gottabemobile.com in the HP section about the tx2 so you might find some good answers there. The TX2 is just now starting to make it on the "scene" at touchsmartcommunity.
I have a similar ttablet though and my fan runs quite a bit. I noticed however that if it is running in "high performance" mode, the fan runs all the time. Setting it to "balanced" throttles the CPU back some and the fan does not run as much and as fast.
As for the DVD, it depends. Some disks run quietly, others are a bit more noisy and there is some vibration. I think it all depends on the overall quality of the disk that you are using. WHne comparing laptop cd/dvd drives to desktop, the laptop drives I have used have always been a bit more noisy than their desktop counterparts due in part to the larger mass of the desktop drives supressing some of the vibrations.
