A couple months ago I won my touchsmart through gottabemobile.com and the HP Magic Giveaway. The prize package also included the HDX 16" laptop, The HP Mini and the grand daddy of all HP Laptops the fully loaded to the hilt, the massive 18.5" HDX. Of course, holding to the terms of the contest, I donated the laptops to a very worthy cause, The Restoration House of East Tennessee, a home of single moms that helps get them started on their own.
Unfortunately, during shipping, the HDX came in contact with something sharp and the box was punctured and the laptop was damaged and had to be sent back. I never got to play with it until the new one arrived today. I must say, the thing is MASSIVE. I don't think I have really ever used a laptop that large. It is loaded with a dual core 2.3 CPU, 4 gigs of RAM (Expandable to I think 8) and two, yes TWO 500GB SATA II HDD's - in a laptop. Never seen dual drives in a laptop before. Add to that a HD tuner with a neat little detachable antenna and two remotes - a small one that fits in the express card slot and a full size media center remote and a Blue Ray HD/Multi DVD. The thing is absolutely loaded! Alas, it wont stay here long as it will be going to a good cause and will be picked up shortly.
The one thought I had though was that if the HDX had touch like the Touchsmart, I would have traded it for the TS. Why, you might ask? Well, I'll be downsizing soon when I leave for school and am currently working between my TS and my laptop, a touch enabled HP TX2500Z. Although its not a touchsmart, it serves me well as a supplement to the TS. I'll be moving from a 5BR 3000 sq' house to probably a 1 BR small apartment. My guess is that the TS will then become the media hub that my wife and I share.
