Hello,

Im thinking of buying an IQ820uk but I really want to have freesat enable for it too.  I currently have a Freesat PCIExpress card that works well within my tower desktop ( http://shop.blackgold.tv/product/3540.html ), and I would like to move it into the touchsmart I buy.

Problem is Im not too sure if it will fit in the IQ820 or IQ52x series.  Has anyone successfully fitted a PCIExpress card within thier touchsmart before?  Any problems with it?

Thanks for any info

The HP TouchSmart IQ500/IQ800 series does not have PCI Express slots.

The IQ500/IQ800 series don't, but according to the hp specs, the IQ52x/IQ820 series do. I just wanted to see if anyone had used it before and whats in it when it arrives?

The specification states:

System features
External drive bays
1 Pocket Media Drive bay
Video adapter, bus
1 PCI-Express 16x
External I/O ports
5 USB 2.0 ports (2 in front); 1 FireWire®-IEEE-1394

Right, it's the bus of the video adapter being based on PCI-Express 16x. That is taken up by the internal video adapter, so not available to end users as far as I know. Let me do some research and see if I can get a definite answer.

you can get picture of the motherboard for touchsmart pc on HP website

I went and checked with one of the hardware engineers. There are no PCI-Express slots available to plug something like the TV tuner you mention into. Even if a slot existed on the motherboard, the form factor of the enclosure doesn't have room for conventional PCI-Express cards as seen in standard tower desktop PCs. This goes for the IQ820 series as well.

Thanks very much for your reply. The motherboard specs say there are 2 PCIe x1 slots but I guess, given the design of the pc, these would be for custom HP parts to fit into.

Its a shame the touchsmart range dont have a hdmi slot so that I could maybe hook up a Freesat hd box to it and utilise the IR Receiver so I could tuck the freesat box out of the way. I think I will have to have a rethink!

Thanks for all you're help.

btw wu5262, i was going to buy my IQ820 from CCL (its marked as IQ520 but pretty sure its the 820 as indicated by price and specs):

My pleasure. The PCIe x1 slots are for custom HP parts as you say.
