Just spent 3 hours with Costco Techsupport - trying to get my burner to burn anything.  Machine was purchased less than six months ago and did burn DVD's about one month ago.  Tried different software to burn as well.

The diagnositics passed, the machine was set back on to the furthermost system restore date, DVD drive uninstalled and re-installed. And now?

Techsupport wants to do a system restoration back to factory default settings.  I will loose everything on the drive.

Is this my last resort?  Please help if you can!

Costco Tech Support? Why not call HP Tech Support? anyway, if you need to do a full Restore, don't sweat it, just back up your data , (or let HP do it for you in the Recovery process), and you'll be fine.

Costco Tech Support is like finding a cheap brain surgeon.
They are out there, but I don't want to use one!

Having said that, Use the people that designed and built the system.
I have found HP's tech support to be frustrating at times, but usually knowledgeable.

Of course, you can always use the restore discs that you made when you first unboxed, right?

Hope this helps.

Pete
