The touchsmart technology sounds terrific. Is it possible to use it to browse the web, use itunes, and pc gaming (eg football manager?) I'm concerned about spending all that money and then not being able to use the technology for some activities.

Help appreciated.

You'll be able to do all of those things. If you want to use touch, you might find some challenges, however. Basically, if an application isn't designed for touch, it could be difficult for you to interact with it. If it has large buttons, it will be easy. Otherwise, you might find it to challenging to use. For instance, iTunes shouldn't be a problem, as you can view it with large icons, allowing you to have large buttons to interact with. TouchSmart comes with a touch browser, so you can browse the web that way. As for games, some will be good and some won't. I've never played Football Manager, so I can't really comment on that. Spore, however, is a great game for touch interaction.

If you pick one up, be sure to tell us how your experience with it is!

I have a lot of the games that are on hp games like Fate, mystic Inn, Virual village, ect. that can all be played by touch.
I find just about anything you would move with a mouse you can move with your finger. if big enough !

Just a word of warning.  I believe it is more a Windows Vista problem than a Touchsmart problem, but iTunes has some definite problems when running.  I've run into different errors and iTunes trying to turn itself on for no reason.  You know, for that matter, it may be an iTunes problem.

I've tried everything and I can not get iTunes to run well. It has a different problem every time. I think it is a Quicktime problem. It keeps wanting to update and then says it can't see the server.

There is a hack that says to install a link (shorcut) to the Quicktime folder in the x86 Program File. I had no luck. I reformatted (complete wipe) my Touchsmart and then tried again. I've worked my way down the list of release versions. No luck.

Any thoughts? Apple's website is relatively quiet about the issue.

I have just bought a TS iq522 and am very pleased so far. However, i can't seem to find my the videos I have on iTunes when I open the video tile. All I find are some pre-loaded videos. Suggestions welcomed. Thank yoou in advance

Are they in the correct file(Music>iTunes>iTunes Music>Movies)? And are your movies iTunes compatible?

They are in Music>iTunes>iTunes Library. I can open the vids from there, but not from the Videos tile

Forgot to reply earlier also. I solved the iTunes/Quicktime problem by downloading the 64 bit Quicktime only (no iTunes) install. It is somewhere on the apple site. Set it up. Then ran the 64 bit Quicktime/iTunes installer with ease.

I think this is where my problems began also. I moved library form laptop to external hard drive to Touchsmart. I ended up with two copies of the library (one on external and the other on the machine). Everything got messed up and when I tried to drag stuff around it got ugly - thus the reinstall.... see above

I don't know the answers to this but how did you get the movies into the itunes movie file? Dragged into the file or imported with software? I somehow think that matters....

I downloaded music videos from YT using DVD Videosoft YT to iPod converter. I also loaded from laptop to external drive, then into TS.

I just tried tooble again and the movie popped up in the tile immediatly after the download with no problem.

Two thoughts

1. when you moved movies from external hard drive to Touchsmart/iTunes you did not import them using iTunes?

2. is your download Y T software pointing the correct folder for the download? Not the Video folder but the movie folder in the iTunes library

3. are you using an external hard drive? i do and I have everything (tooble, iTunes, Media player, photos, etc) pointing the my external. You can change these settings.

i guess that's 3 thoughts. sorry.

I think ignorance is my main problem!! I had all my music/YT videos on my external drive and copied them (dragged) them into iTunes which I downloaded new into TS. They all appear there and can be accessed from iTunes, but still not through TS.

I am not very computer savvy, but had no problems with the old laptop using Vista. Still have no major problem, just the tiles issue

The Touchsmart software does give you the flexibity to choose what libraries you want to use. You can also click on your folders and drive locations - these are running across the top border of the Touchsmart application windows (after you open one of them)

tHANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BEING SO HELPFUL. I really need a manual written in very simple English and maybe then I'll succeed!

I decided to break out some old games and give them a try on the touchsmart.
I installed Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Medal of honor and while both look better than ever at full resolution and play quite nicely with all the bells and whistles turned on, they are lacking in touch.
The last time I played both of these gamse was on a 19" monitor so playing them on the huge IQ816 screen was wild...until the motion sickness set in.
Yep, got cold, clammy and woozy. Had to call it quits after only an hour. Am I getting too old for this or was it just visual overload?
In any event, they still played well with the KB and mouse.
