I like to use the Classic "Menu Bar" and the "Favorites" drop down menu.

The problem is, the Favorites menu drop down list shows "Add to Favorites" as in XP but when you try to save to a file in the favorites list windows show an "unspecified errror occured" and will not save to the favorites menu list.

Work around: I drag the icon off the address bar and place it in the Favorites file in my Favorites file.

Is there a way to get the Classic Menu Bar "Favorites" to work the way it should?

Thanks.

Right click just below where the menu bar is displayed (and to the right of the last tab) and in the popup list select menu bar.

Alternately, you can hit the "alt" key to display teh menu bar temporarily.

Alternatively #2, Alt Z is the keystroke command to add a new favorite.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks DaveTN, but the problem is still there.

The short cuts work to open the Menu Tool Bar and the Favorites Menu, but the error message comes up when I try to save a site and I get no further ahead.

Sticking with the work around for now.

PS: I downloaded my Favorites from my old KP machine, so I am not having to do a ton of extra draging and dropping.

Here is another workaround but it requires two computers.

Microsofts Windows Live suite allows you to synchronize your favorites across all your computers in your "live sync" group.. If youy set up a group and save a favoriote on one computer, it is saved on the others as well.

Live sync also allows you to synchronize other things between computers as well.

YOU SAID YOU LIKE THE WAY THE OLD CLASIC FAV MENU, HOW ABOUT DOWNLOADIHG MOZZELL FIR FOX. HAS A CLASIC LOOK. NOW IF I UNDERSTAND THE SHORT CUT LINK WORK ARE YOU GETTING THESE LINGS FROM THE FAV FOLDER? IF YOU AER MAKE A COPY OF THE FAV FOLDER. THEN GO ON YOUR WEB PAGE AND CLICK TO EDIT YOUR DROP DOWN LIST, DELETE ALL YOUR FAVS IN THE COLLEUM THEN OPEN A NEW WEB PAGE. COPY
THE ADDRESS OF A FAVS FROM THE FOLDER YOU COPYED. PAST THAT ADDRESS TO THE TOP OF THE WEB PAGE IT THE PAGE IS THE ONE YOU WANT THEN NOW SAV E IT IN YOU FAVS OR BOOKMARK. i HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP YOU OUT.

Thank you both, this is starting to look like a bit of work and the thing still will not be right.
I am thinking of an install of IE8 and then return to IE7 to see if that helps.
PS on my PS: My old machine has XP not KP (kitchen patrol).

I installed IE8 with the same results, when I try to save a site "to a file - MSN Sites for instance) I get an error message with an "unspecified error" for my efforts.
But, I did find that I can save to the main folder "Favorites".
Yes, I will still have to go into the Favorites folder and organize, but at least I won't have a pile of short cuts on my desk top waiting to be sorted and filed. They will be in the Favorites folder waiting to be sorted and filed.
One less step.

As for IE8 for the few minutes I had the use of it, it did some wierd things - would not browse a MS LiveOne website for some reason. It didn't have a problem with the few sites I tried while saving to the "Favorites" folder.
I restored back to IE7.
