I think a killer app for the Touchsmart would be a family planner/calendar.
I've been intrigued by the Touchsmart at the store but will not purchase one until I see it can do a family calendar well. My goal would be to replace refrigerator hung calendars and whiteboard schedules and notes. The built in calendar app is useless for this function.
Need to be able to glance at the screen and see a daily to weekly schedule for the whole family. Things such as evening schedules for me and the wife, activity schedules with locations for the kids, daily reminders for things the kids might need for school or places you might need to stop on the way home. Then this needs to be synced with a web accessible calendar such as Google Calendar and also be able to subscribe to other online calendars. Also then needs sync with mobile devices such as Blackberry's.
Maybe some type of mashup of Google Calendar itself would work best.
I love the TouchCenter software. It's a great idea and works well for working with photos, videos, and I especially like the Music application.
There's a lot of possibilites, though, for new and enhanced apps that are specifically "touch friendly."
Personally, I would say that my most wanted app is an enhanced, optimized-for-touch RSS reader. I'm an avid user of NetNewsWire (NewsGator) but the online version, with its teeny-tiny links, isn't very touch friendly.
What's your most wanted touch application?

There is already a pretty nice calendar in the Touchsmart software. There is even a little light on the top of the unit that lights up when an event takes place.
I think a calculator skinned like the Touchsmart browser would be neat.

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
Any other touch friendly app's or websites that current user's can recommend to a noob?
Touch hasn't exactly caught on in the home PC environment. Handhelds and commerce has been the focus of touch over the last few years but as people become more used to in their daily lives the technology will explode. ATMs, automated checkouts, jukeboxes and information kiosks that use touch are becoming increasingly popular. I imagine with the release of Win7 and the release of the new iMac, more people are going to be looking at the touchscreen experience for their homes and we will begin to see more touch friendly web sites and apps. There will be an explosion of touch technology in 2010.
I agree Jerry. Touch is slowly making its way into the mainstream. Im sad though that things like the UMPC's with touchscreens are falling out of favor in place of "netbooks" and other small formfactor pc's without touch. The UMPC's just didn't hit the pricepoint sweetspot that the netbooks did.
I think Windows 7 will lead to some big advancements in touch. I have been running it on a touchscreen/digitizer HP TX2500z and it runs great. the touch features (minus multitouch) are better than with Vista and it performs much better too. I'm also running it on my Ssamsung Q1 Ultra UMPC. Works significantly better than vista on that.
One interesting thing that I tried, and I may have mentioned it in another post , was that I added Microsofts "Origami Project" 2.0 to my HP tablet. It gives a Touchsmart like feel to my tablet and is really cool. If developers will continue to design programs like that then there is a viable future for touch.

I'd really like to install the suite of party games like you can play in on a touch screen game consol in a pub / bar.
Especially the game where they give you 2 pictures beside eachother and you have to touch the differences between the pics!

I found a good Photohunt site like you were askign about comparing two pictures like the bars have. They have a dirty version and family too depending on you situation.
Here is the link:
ENJOY!
maybe something that makes that modifies that standard vista mouse behaviour to improve the touchscreen experience with all programs.
i dunno but insteat of a 32x32 icon, something that selects by lines so as to make outlook or a newsreader more easy to use?
maybe is something not possible otherwise hp would have made it, anyway i ordered my iq820 and i am soooo eager to receive it so i daydream here! still a couple of days :D
I have been using a Desktop UI for Windows called Bumptop. http://www.bumptop.com
It will be released by tomorrow. And it works great with a touchscreen.
Love it!!

The HP Games Console that comes w/ the TouchSmart has a fullscreen mode that is kinda elegant. It reminds me of the Pub kiosk. And it has many games that link up to it.
You might need to download an update from wildtangent. But it works well for a quick escape.
I'm thinking of building a program that will allow you to use a multitouch gesture to rotate the screen... (three fingers clockwise or counter-clockwise).
I miss the accelerometer on my Toshiba M200, but I think this would be a little more useful.
Any thoughts?
also, spreading fingers within a window to expand or contract it, not just resize the icons
With my new IQ804 mounted on the kitchen wall near the telephone, it quickly became obvious that a phone/address book application would be very handy. The Windows Contacts in Vista just doesn't make it when used with "touch".

Hey bro, why do I need to register just to look at your "Touchscreen Applications" board? Your forum seems pretty small\new, so you should certainly turn that crap off if you don't want to **** away most of your potential members and content.
Registering helps us keep better control of spam and you can recieve notifications of replies to your posts.
Thank You,

Dave, I think Master was talking about the touchswipe.com forums put together by Hiphonepro, not this site.
