First let me say I LOVE my TouchSmart so far. 95% trouble free. There are just a few things annoying me. One is the not going to sleep thing, but I have another post going about that. The other is that occasionally it will 'forget' that I told it not to beep upon touch in the control panel and I'll have to reset that. Lastly, sometimes when I start up it will display mutliples of the keyboard notices in the quickbar (ex. Scroll lock, caps like, num lock icons). Right now I have two of each showing.

Any thoughts? Could my keyboard be funky?

Thanks all!

Dylan.

It is still reverting back to beeping when I touch the screen even though it is still disabled in the control panel . . .

Are you using the OEM keyboard that came with your TS or an aftermarket one that you purchased?
Also, did you reinstall the keyboard software from HP? (might be why you have two instances of it running)
If you hover your mouse pointer over the icons does one of them disappear?

A little more info may help me answer your question.

I am using the OEM keyboard. I have not reinstalled any software. They dont disappear when I put my mouse over them. In the task manager bar there are two instances of the same program running. I usually close one of them and the bars go away.

Also, is it typical of HPTouchSmart Calendar and Notes background program to use anywhere from 200-400mb of ram even when I dont have their touchsmart software running?

you may have to edit msconfig startup items.
click on the start button and in the run box type msconfig
go to the startup tab and look for duplicate instances of the services that you have been shutting down to make the extra icons go away.
since you are unchecking the boxes, you can always go back and check them if it causes any problems.

And yes, the calendar and notes do use a bit of memory. I posted just a few minutes ago that a new version of the calendar program came out a couple days ago. Check out the HP driver site for info.

sorry.

Click on the start button and the run box is the box right below where it says "all programs".
