You can do a full install for Win7 with just the content from the support site. Have you looked for the older versions of MVP?
Are you getting the "this system doesn't meet requirements" dialog and that's stopping you? if so you can just not click it, copy the installer contents out of your temp directory and manually run the installer from one of the sub-directories.
No, my message is that this software/application is only designed for HP TouchSmart or Media Smart systems.
The computer is a refurb and it looks like the system has been renamed. I went to the HP site and ran the automatic detect tool and it did not find the computer.
I am not following your instructions.
I did unzip the files and am in the temp directories. I have installed other apps, such as browser and calendar in this manner.
It is only the MVP player.
I have also downloaded the original MVP app, but am running into the same issue.
I would appreciate any assistance. I am contemplating sending the computer back. If I can get this media working, I will be happy.
Well best intentions.
I went back and un-installed everything and started fresh.
1. I am unzipping and running the msi file in the source file of the original HP TouchSmart tools downloaded from the link provided in the blog (sp37504)
C:\Todd's Files\sp37504_original TouchSmart\Source\hp\tmp\src
This runs and installs.
2. I have then downloaded the application update to HP TouchSmart 3.0 (SP44643). This runs and installs.
3. I then try to install the application update to Music Video Photo tools (SP44428). I again go to the src sub-folder and run the setup.exe file. It runs through all the motions and then I receive the following error -
"This software can only be installed on HP TouchSmart and HP media systems."
I have also tired installing the original SP40893 MVP program before installing the update to 3.0 (see step 2.)
And as usual, I keep getting the same error.
For some reason, this installer is configured to only work with certain HP computers/systems. In the refurb process, a setting might have been changed, and thus the installer is not recognizing this as a HP TouchSmart system....
Thanks.
refurb.. interesting..
There is ONE gotcha and that is that if in the refurb process they removed the model ID in the BIOS, it will do weird things, and the ID check would fail, as would using any recovery DVDs, I'd look in the BIOS and see if you're missing the ID string, you'd see this on a "debranded" system, not just a refurb and you would also not have any HP logos on the case, and the S/N barcode would be missing.
Yes, it looks like they removed the Model ID number in the Bios.
I have gone to the HP site to see if they have the BIOS in the IQ 504 drivers, but they do not.
Am I out of luck? Or do you have any ideas/
Also, have you any experience with the Windows Media Center in Win 7. I am wondering if this will do the trick for me. Especially since I can get most of the other items working in the HP suite.
If you have a "debranded" unit that has the model info wiped from the BIOS you may be out of luck, a previous user was never able to resolve it.
That being said, I primarily use my IQ846 as a TV and music player with Windows Media Center and between the remote and the big buttons it works awesome as a touch unit.
First, Merry Christmas to you.
Do I take it that you use Windows Media Center in place of the Music player and video player in the HP touch smart center?
I started playing with this yesterday and it is pretty cool....
